San Francisco has many exciting destinations for family trips. First, grab a bit to eat at the many eateries that line Union or Chestnut streets. Then it’s off to the extreme museum. You and your kids will enjoy over 600 science, technology, art and nature exhibits.
Next stop is the Fisherman’s Wharf. On your way to the Wharf, you can pick up some chocolate-covered snacks at Ghirardelli Square. At the Cannery, you will find shops and restaurants along walkways, on balconies, and on the courtyard. Once you reach Pier 39, you and your kids can watch sea lions frolick under the sun, go for a spin on the carousel, play in the arcade or go on a magic carpet ride. Afterwards, it’s off to the Aquarium of the Bay’s underwater world where your little one can watch sharks, eels and octopus through 300-feet clear tunnels.
From the Aquarium by the bay, a restored 1955 red Mack fire engine from the the San Francisco Fire Engine Tours and Adventures will take you through the Presidio, over the Golden Bridge, to Sausalito, and then back again - all while wearing firemans’ jackets and hats and sing fireman songs. If you and your kids like cars, then you will surely like the vintage touring cars at Mr. Toad’s Tours at the Wharf. You will also enjoy the driving a City Segway or electric bike at the Electric Tour Company; and the GPS-guided story-telling GoCars.
Wine Country
One of the most famous San Francisco tourist destinations, Wine Country is just an hour away from the city. Wine connoisseurs should not miss the opportunity to visit wine country for wine tasting at the following wineries: Cakebread Cellars, Robert Mondavi Winery, and Merryvale. Those who are not that fond of wine can appreciate the rolling hills of vineyards; plus, there several places of interest that you can visit. Stop by Yountville, considered the culinary capital of Napa, and experience the famous spa and restaurant at the recently opened 62-room Bardessono. After visiting the wineries, relax at the Calistoga Hot Springs or the Golden Haven Spa and Resort, both of which, have been pampering visitors for nearly 80 years.

The Ferry Building
The building was opened in 2003 with local gourmet selections of chocolates, breads, cookware, coffee, meats and poultry, fish, artisan cheeses, plus a select few hand-picked restaurants with a distinctly San Francisco feel. If you only want the freshest fares, then visit the place on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday mornings when Farmers’ Markets sell their organically grown produce in the open arcades.

Make your way through the Marketplace and the Farmer’s Market for a make-your-own buffet table. Grab your morning brew at Peet’s Coffee and Tea shop. Then have your breakfasat al fresco and Bay front.
