Chkdsk.exe (commonly known as CHKDSK) is a Microsoft Windows disk utility command that verifies the logical integrity of the file system and also repairs it in case it is corrupted. The command is competent enough to repair file system after the hard drive gets corrupted due to logical bad sectors, cross-linked files, lost clusters, and directory errors. To use this command, the user needs to log in as an administrator. While the command brings the system in reusable state in most of the situations, it can also result into loss of data, if it gets interrupted.
